The club was set up following a Holiday Club in which we used the Paintbox Project resource book. During discussions following the holiday club we realised that during that week more bible teaching was received by the children than those children attending Sunday School very irregularly. We decided to run a mid week activity on the lines of a holiday club.

Our aim is to teach the main Christian truths following the Christian year, plus popular bible stories and stories about modern day Christians surrounded by a programme that is fun.

From the outset we have followed a strict policy of ensuring that there is a good ratio of staff to children. At present we have :-
5 leaders who meet each half term to plan the programme,
1 adult helper plus 2 teenage helpers plus 2 gophers who carry tables make drinks etc. etc. With this level of help we have set our top number at 24. After that we have a waiting list.

Age group is year 1 to year 6 (reception children can’t cope with the games and some of the craft activities)

We have a strict “everyone joins in” policy. At first we had a lot of “I don’t like this game” or “ I don’t want to do this”. So now we explain before they start that this is a club where everyone joins in and they accept this.

We also have plenty of board games etc. for those times when children finish before others.
For the activity section the children are divided into 3 rotating groups so that all children do all 3 activities. Cookery is their favourite.

If you have a child who would like to join us please leave a message on the church telephone 0161 976 2697.
